If you rarely venture into the world of television, which is understandable, you may have missed the best thing to happen forarchitecture recently: Whare Māori, hosted by Rau Hoskins.

But fear not, fantastically the show is accessible, hassle free, thanks to Māori Television(.com), where you can currently stream the first five episodes. Check it out here.  Or you can still catch it on 'real' TV, Sunday nights, 8.00pm.

I’ve only got through the first two episodes, and have found them completely engaging, informed, and revealing.  Host Rau Hoskins lectures in Māori architecture at UNITEC Auckland and is the director of Design Tribe Limited, and does a fantastic job as guide and voice of the subject matter.  He engages cultural, historical, technological and political questions facing New Zealanders and the built environment, with highly watchable ease.
